In this course, students will study the techniques and algorithms for representing data in visual form, drawing on principles and techniques from graphic design, visual arts, cognitive psychology, and cognitive science. The course is for students who need to use images in their work, as well as students who are interested in building image representation tool systems. In addition to attending class lectures, students will have to complete a number of short data analysis and programming assignments as well as a large final assignment. Students will incorporate all the skills learned in the final project report at the end of the course.
