Vietnam Blockchain Week is the first major blockchain conference in Vietnam which is co-organized by Infinity Blockchain Labs (IBS) and LINA Review. This conference aims to connect senior executive policy makers, scientists and experts in fields such as banking, logistics and marketing. Dr. Le Hong Phuong (DSL) and Dr. Nguyen Thi Minh Huyen (MIM) have been invited to attend the conference.
On Tuesday, March 7, 2018, Dr. Le Hong Phuong (DSL), Dr. Nguyen Thi Minh Huyen and Dr. Do Thanh Ha (Department of Informatics) had a meeting with Mr. Dai Matsumoto, co-founder of Simula Labs, a Japanese start-up in AI. Simula Labs is based in Tokyo, Japan. It has opened two offices in Singapore and the Philippines. The two sides had a fruitful discussion about future collaboration in both training and research activities.
On February 8, 2018, Dr. Le Hong Phuong, head of the DSL, had a meeting with Microsoft Vietnam LLC, together with other delegation members of Hanoi University of Science (HUS) led by Prof. Vu Hoang Linh, vice rector of HUS.
HUS delegation was welcomed by Mr. Pham The Truong, general director of Microsoft Vietnam. HUS and Microsoft Vietnam have discussed about potential collaboration opportunities in teaching and research, both in short term and long term activities.
On Saturday, January 20, 2018, the DSL started a mini-course of natural language processing for about 20 employees of Viettel Cyberspace Center (VTCC). This course aims to covers fundamental and advanced topics in natural language processing (NLP), with a focus on Vietnamese text processing. The instructors of the course are Dr. Le Hong Phuong and Dr. Nguyen Thi Minh Huyen. DSL and VTCC is going to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in training and research activities.
On Friday January 19, 2018, Linagora Vietnam, a branch of Linagora -- a French IT company visited the DSL to discuss about the collaboration possibilities in training and research. Linagora is a leading open source software company in France, and has offices / branches in some other countries, including Vietnam. Linagora is interested in some projects which deal with big data processing.
